“Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose.” Bo Bennett.
As a young girl, I always wondered how did people achieve their goals? How did they manage to focus on what they wanted? It’s then when my dad once told me “You got to visualise it!”. When you put you heart and soul into something, you can push mountains.
The key to visualisation is self-efficacy (knowing yourself) and growth mindset. Visualization techniques have been used by successful people to visualize their desired outcomes for ages. The practice has even given some high achievers what seems like super-powers, helping them create their dream lives by accomplishing one goal or task at a time with hyper focus and complete confidence. It sounded very fascinating to me, and I decided to give it a try and guess what the outcome was as I desired it to be. Well, don’t get me wrong, but just thinking about something you want to achieve is not going to help you achieve it. You would have to constantly work towards it, make sacrifices, have a plan and follow it through.
Using visualization techniques to focus on your goals and desires yields four very important benefits. It activates your creative subconscious which will start generating creative ideas to achieve your goal. It programs your brain to more readily perceive and recognize the resources you will need to achieve your dreams. It activates the law of attraction, thereby drawing into your life the people, resources, and circumstances you will need to achieve your goals. It builds your internal motivation to take the necessary actions to achieve your dreams.
I visualised my goal and I achieved it.
